Lightcode Collective is a boutique lighting design and production company serving the Cape Town music and events industry, known for immersive atmospheres and custom-built installations across festivals, venues, and private events.
I joined Lightcode during a pivotal growth phase and stepped into a co-ownership role, holding responsibility for operational structure, internal systems, and creative alignment as the business scaled. My focus was to professionalise operations without flattening the studio’s distinctive creative voice.
The work sat at the intersection of creative production, logistics, and business systems — building foundations that allowed the team to deliver complex installations reliably while maintaining artistic integrity.
What I held:
Creative operations & systems architecture
Designing and implementing production timelines, internal workflows, and operational systems that supported build-up, live execution, and breakdown across multiple concurrent projects.
Team & production coordination
Holding coordination across creative leads, technicians, and suppliers — ensuring clarity, accountability, and calm execution in high-pressure environments.
Client translation & communication
Translating conceptual lighting ideas into clear, client-facing communication that balanced emotional intent with technical and logistical reality.
Digital & business infrastructure
Establishing and managing the company’s digital foundations, including Google Workspace, website structure, and external communication systems, with a focus on clarity and usability.
Founder partnership & strategic support
Working closely with the founder to shape ideas into executable systems — supporting creative ambition through structure, pacing, and operational discipline.
Lightcode required steady leadership at the point where vision meets reality. My role was to hold that junction — enabling the studio to grow sustainably while preserving what made the work feel alive.
