eku collective
Founder & Creative Director | 2022 - 2024
Eku Collective is a passion-fueled preloved fashion project born from a love of storytelling, sustainability, and street style. What began as a series of curated thrift markets evolved into a thoughtfully built slow fashion brand—combining community, nostalgia, and aesthetic impact. With an ethos rooted in conscious consumption and creative empowerment, Eku champions the idea that every garment carries a story, and every outfit can be an ode to both fashion and the planet.
As founder and creative director, I built Eku from the ground up—curating every aspect of its identity and experience, from product selection to brand voice.
Key responsibilities included:
Event curation – producing vibrant thrift markets in Cape Town’s cultural hubs, complete with live DJs, mood lighting, and a community-driven atmosphere
Brand development – designing and executing the brand identity, including logo design, tone of voice, visual direction, and storytelling across all touchpoints
Content creation – shooting and editing both digital and film photography, directing styling for fashion drops, and creating posters and promotional reels
E-commerce & design – launching a Shopify store and Instagram page to sell curated drops, featuring locally loved creatives as models
Operations & strategy – managing product sourcing, pricing, inventory, marketing, and logistics as a solo founder
In 2024, I made the decision to pause Eku while I focus on other career opportunities offering greater stability. The lessons, love, and creative growth from this journey have only deepened my commitment to building a brand with impact, and Eku will return when the time is right—with deeper roots, refined intention, and renewed vision.
